Bernini and the Barberini in St. Peter's Basilica

GUIDED TOUR

The guided tour "Bernini and the Barberini in St. Peter's Basilica" offers visitors the opportunity to explore the bond between Gian Lorenzo Bernini and the Barberini family, protagonists of one of the most significant artistic seasons of Baroque Rome, through the works created inside St. Peter's Basilica during the pontificate of Pope Urban VIII.

The itinerary allows visitors to discover masterpieces such as the Baldachin, the Chair of St. Peter, the statue of St. Longinus and the Funerary Monument of Urban VIII, highlighting the artistic, symbolic and spiritual value of these works, conceived to express the greatness of the Church and the theological significance of the sacred spaces. This tour is conceived as a continuation and further exploration of the exhibition "Bernini and the Barberini" at the Gallerie Nazionali di Arte Antica in the halls of Palazzo Barberini.

The visits are conducted by accredited guides of the Fabbrica di San Pietro, and take place in groups organized by language. The duration of the visit is approximately one hour.

It is recommended to wear appropriate clothing for the holy place.

Please note that, on the occasion of particular liturgical celebrations or extraordinary events, the Visits Office reserves the right to cancel, postpone, or reschedule the visit, providing timely notice to participants.

N.B.: El acceso al recorrido en la Basílica está reservado exclusivamente a los visitantes de la exposición «Bernini y los Barberini» (entrada obligatoria).
