The Official Area of St. Peter’s Basilica

The Official Area represents the new hospitality hub of St. Peter’s Basilica: a place where spirituality, innovation, and hospitality come together to offer pilgrims and visitors a complete and meaningful experience.

Hospitality and innovation. The reception service, available in multiple languages through dedicated staff, is supported by state-of-the-art technological tools: touch walls, interactive totems, and mobile operators with tablets. Virtual and augmented reality allow visitors to preview the Basilica and explore details often invisible to the eye. Special attention is given to children and adolescents, who are engaged through school programs during the Holy Year.

Hospitality and solidarity. Hospitality is conceived as a concrete sign of charity. A broad network of parishes, dioceses, nunciatures, embassies, and Third Sector organizations supports those who face difficulties in reaching the Basilica, offering them the opportunity to live the pilgrimage experience.

Memory of the experience. Inside the Official Area, a curated line of authentic objects bearing the logo of St. Peter’s Basilica is available.

Cultural, artistic, and editorial products — created according to criteria of quality and sustainability — allow visitors to preserve a tangible memory of the experience. Management is entrusted to Civita Mostre e Musei on behalf of the Fabbrica di San Pietro.

Spirituality and inclusion. The spiritual dimension remains the ultimate goal of the journey. New and innovative itineraries are planned: exclusive visits, immersive experiences, tactile paths for the visually impaired, and solutions dedicated to people with disabilities.

Accredited guides and the mindful use of new technologies, including artificial intelligence, ensure a profound and accessible experience for everyone.
