On 18 November 2025, at the Altar of the Chair, the Holy Mass will be celebrated on the occasion of the Solemnity of the Dedication of the Papal Vatican Basilica. This is a particularly significant anniversary: 399 years have passed since the consecration on 18 November 1626, the day on which the Basilica, rebuilt by Bramante, Raphael, Michelangelo and Bernini, was officially dedicated to worship.
This year’s celebration carries a special symbolic meaning, as it marks the opening of the four-hundredth year since the Dedication. It will thus begin a period of remembrance, gratitude and renewed reflection on the spiritual, artistic and pastoral mission the Basilica continues to uphold.
The Fabbrica di San Pietro invites the faithful, pilgrims and visitors to join in this moment of prayer marking the beginning of an important year for the history of the Basilica and for the universal Church.
