“La Fabbrica della Bellezza” at the Rimini Meeting

On Wednesday, 26 August, at 11:30 a.m., a podcast dedicated to the volume La Fabbrica della Bellezza. Quattrocento anni di fede, storia e arte nella Basilica più grande del mondo, published by the Publisher Basilica San Pietro, will be held at the Rimini Meeting.

The event, scheduled to take place in Pavilion A5, will feature Piero Damosso, a journalist and contributor to the publishing activities of the Fabbrica di San Pietro, and Assunta Di Sante, an archivist at the Fabbrica di San Pietro and author of one of the essays included in the volume.

Through nine contributions spanning 156 pages and accompanied by numerous images and illustrations, the publication offers a spiritual, historical and artistic journey of discovery through the Vatican Basilica. It is a place where faith and beauty meet, rooted in the memory and burial place of the Apostle Peter and custodian of a unique heritage in the history of art and culture.

Produced with contributions from art historians, archivists, scholars and individuals working in various capacities within the Fabbrica di San Pietro and the Basilica, the volume is presented in a practical format designed to accompany pilgrims and visitors in their discovery of St Peter’s Basilica.

As Cardinal Mauro Gambetti writes in the preface, the beauty explored in the volume—through art, faith, welcome and dialogue—is not an end in itself. The works preserved in the Basilica, created and conceived to bring faith to life, together with the work and commitment of the Fabbrica di San Pietro community, help express the religious and Eucharistic dimension of the place and guide pilgrims and visitors towards the essence of Christian love: discovering that they are loved by God and loving their brothers and sisters, in order to build peace and fraternity within and beyond the Basilica.
