Lectio Francisci: an event dedicated to Saint Francis of Assisi in St Peter’s Basilica

Three talks exploring Saint Francis’s presence in Rome, his connection with the See of Peter and the value of fraternity in today’s multicultural context.

On Saturday, 24 October 2026, at 3:30 p.m., the Lectio Francisci will be held at the Altar of the Chair in St Peter’s Basilica. The event will focus on Saint Francis of Assisi and the challenges facing society and religious communities today.

Organized to mark the eighth centenary of the death of Saint Francis, the event will feature three talks:

• “Saint Francis in Rome”, by Davide Rondoni;
• “Francis’s connection with the See of Peter”, by Sister Simona Paolini;
• “Fraternity and the challenge of multiculturalism in society and religious communities”, by Sister Simona Brambilla.

The talks will be accompanied by musical interludes performed by the Cappella Musicale Giulia.

A celebration of the Eucharist will follow at 6:00 p.m. at the Altar of the Chair.
