October, the Month of the Rosary: Torchlight Prayer Every Saturday in St Peter’s Square

During October, the month traditionally dedicated to the Holy Rosary, the torchlight Rosary with the image of Mater Ecclesiae will take place in St Peter’s Square. It will be held every Saturday of the month at 9:00 p.m.: 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31 October 2026.

This prayer gathering responds to the invitation of Pope Leo XIV: “I invite all the faithful and all Christian communities to pray the Holy Rosary during the coming month of October, with the particular intention that wars may cease and peace may be established among peoples in conflict.”

By torchlight, the faithful and pilgrims will be able to join in praying the Rosary, entrusting their longing for peace and the sufferings of those affected by war to the intercession of the Virgin Mary.

Five evenings of communal prayer to mark this Marian month in a spirit of recollection, meditating on the mysteries of Christ’s life with Mary.
