Saturday, 18 July: Spiritual Upliftment in St Peter’s Basilica

On Saturday, 18 July, at 4:00 p.m., a Spiritual Upliftment performed by the Cappella Musicale Giulia will take place at the Altar of the Chair in St Peter’s Basilica.

The programme will offer a musical journey through several significant works from the sacred choral repertoire, featuring compositions by Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, Lorenzo Perosi, Domenico Bartolucci, Valentino Miserachs and Antonio Renzi.

The Spiritual Upliftment will open with the Gloria from Palestrina’s Missa Brevis. It will be followed by Perosi’s O sacrum convivium, Bartolucci’s Ave verum, Miserachs’s Cantate Domino and Renzi’s Jubilate Deo.

The event will offer the faithful and visitors a moment of listening, prayerful reflection and meditation in the heart of the Vatican Basilica, through the voices of the Cappella Musicale Giulia and the heritage of liturgical music.
