On Saturday, 4 July, at 4:00 p.m., a Spiritual Upliftment performed by the Cappella Musicale Giulia will take place in St. Peter’s Basilica, at the Altar of the Chair.
The programme will offer an itinerary of sacred music through several significant works from the choral tradition, featuring pieces by Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, Tomás Luis de Victoria, Anton Bruckner and Domenico Bartolucci.
The Upliftment will open with Palestrina’s Sicut cervus, followed by the Kyrie eleison from the Missa Brevis by the same composer. The musical journey will continue with Victoria’s Ave Maria, Bruckner’s Locus iste and Bartolucci’s Jubilate Deo.
The event will offer the faithful and visitors a moment of listening, recollection and meditation in the heart of the Vatican Basilica, through the voices of the Cappella Musicale Giulia and the heritage of liturgical music.
