On Saturday 1 August, at 4:00 p.m., a Spiritual Upliftment performed by the Cappella Musicale Giulia will take place at the Altar of the Chair in St Peter’s Basilica.
The programme will offer a journey through several significant works of sacred choral music, featuring compositions by Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, Claudio Casciolini, Lorenzo Perosi, Domenico Bartolucci and Théodore Dubois.
The Spiritual Upliftment will open with the Agnus Dei from Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina’s Missa Brevis. It will be followed by Panis angelicus by Claudio Casciolini, O salutaris Hostia by Lorenzo Perosi, Ave Maria dolcissima by Domenico Bartolucci and Cantate Domino by Théodore Dubois.
The event will offer the faithful and visitors a moment of listening, prayerful reflection and meditation in the heart of the Vatican Basilica, through the voices of the Cappella Musicale Giulia and the precious heritage of sacred music.
